The Friends of Fahnestock and the Winter Park will be sponsoring the 3nd Annual Nordic Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Swap Sale Saturday November 3 from 9 AM to 2 PM at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center (TOEC) with all proceeds directly benefiting the popular winter outdoor recreation activities in the park.
So what is a ski swap? Paul Kuznia from the Fahnestock Winter Park (FWP) says that you bring in old, unused or outgrown skis, boots, poles and see if we can sell them for you. If you are in the market for gear, you could also pick up someone else’s or purchase new equipment.
In regard to older skis with “3 pin bindings” – one question that always comes up is how to deal these bindings if you want to sell the ski? With a twist of a screw driver the binding can be removed and the ski can be sold.
Good deals on classic skis and skate equipment from previous seasons can be found, too. Other items that could be on sale include snowshoes, bindings, ski boxes, cold weather clothes, XC videos/books and waxing equipment. While you wait, you can also have bindings mounted. Light snacks and beverages will also be available.
To help cover the cost of running the event, a suggested donation of one dollar for each item dropped off is requested. If your equipment sells, the Friend’s of Fahnestock keeps 20% of the sale price to be used for sales tax and the rest supports the winter outdoor recreation activities at FWP.
Individuals wanting to drop off gear to sell can do so on Fri. – Nov 2, 8:30 AM – 7 PM, or Sat. morning – Nov 3, 8-9 AM.
TOEC is located in Fahnestock State Park, between Rte. 9 and the Taconic Parkway off Rte. 301 and Dennytown Rd.
